Nopal Cactus (Prickly Pear) Contains Aspartic Acid

(*) See References and Disclaimer at the bottom of the page.

Nopal cactus (prickly pear) contains aspartic acid that is needed for the synthesis of antibodies and immunoglobulins(1*), a part of the body's immune system. It also increases the body's resistance to fatigue and boosts stamina(2*). Aspartic acid supports the liver by eliminating toxins and excess ammonia in the bloodstream; a build-up of ammonia in the circulatory system is highly toxic to the central nervous system(3*).

Aspartic acid is important in the synthesis of other biochemicals and amino acids such as threonine, arginine, asparagine and nucleotides(4*). Additionally, the brain needs aspartic acid for neural health as well as for proper construction of RNA and DNA(5*).
